The wild forest reindeer are close relatives of Santa’s Rudolph. While large herds are easier to locate during winter, a summer tour aims to provide a fortunate adventurer with the opportunity to observe, photograph, and appreciate these majestic animals comfortably from our vehicles.

Note that there are no more than 800 genetically diverse Karelian wild forest reindeer left in the world, all residing in this region. Due to habitat loss and predators, some individuals have been relocated to reduce the risk of extinction.

Gentle Smoke Sauna

Experience the enchanting atmosphere of the most original Finnish sauna, the ancient smoke sauna. Sit high on the benches, throw water on a large hot stone pile, and engulf yourself in soft sweet steam called Löyly. Few things can be sweeter.

The smoke sauna, devoid of a chimney, releases smoke through a high hole in the log wall. After the sauna master’s meticulous preparation, the space is ventilated for your unique sauna experience.

Practice good habits in the smoke sauna, respecting the dwelling of Saunatonttu, a mythical very old and small bearded fellow who finds solace in the darkness behind the stone pile. Saunatonttu loves to be your host, but gets very grumpy if you insult his rules. Don’t worry, we will tell you what the rules are and if necessary, we’ll take the blame.

Receive the health benefits of the smoke sauna, equivalent to those of ordinary saunas, and feel the magical ambiance in the darkness.
